A NEW NAME : SAME OLD SAME OLD BUT DIFFERENT (saw that on a 'T' shirt in Vietnam).
Welcome to LEADS SUCCESS, as voted at this mornings meeting, we will work in the background to establish a new BLOG address, in the meantime, business as usual.
Nicola Cox from 'Home Savvy Interiors' gave a brief to the point presentation on Renovations / redecoration's / or even new constructions, explaining that colour schemes start from the floor up. Choose your flooring and base colour and add the other colours as you go. Flooring choices other than tiles.... can now be Bamboo as an environmental decision, or if you are using timber, consider "plantation" timber or perhaps check out "The Red Shed" for recylced wood. Vinyl is also another possible Eco friendly choice. A great idea is to use Nicola's services as a consultant for the whole process.
### Julia's Sabbatical to Scotland: Only the brave would 'phone Julia in Scotland for lipstick, so instead, contact "Robyn Scokac on 32645566" as stand in for Julia.
###.........CHRISTMAS IN JULY............###

Today's meeting was full of good humour & positives:
We had an interesting address by Glynis Bretherton about the uses and reasoning behind "Clinical Hypnosis" . You can contact Glynis for a consultation on 07 33671150 So I don't procrastinate I am writing this blog early in the week and have attached following an article from the founder of a similar Networking Group to Leads: Simple but Not Easy By Dr. Ivan Misner, BNI Founder and Chairman Networking is simple; it's just not easy.If it were easy, everyone would do it and do it well … and they don't! In this article I'm not going to give you a step-by-step process you need to employ to network effectively. No, this article is to get you to stop and think about all the networking advice found in articles, books, blogs, podcasts, and audios you aren't following. I want you to stop and think about the things you should be doing—and implement them.In my presentations around the world I talk about how to apply networking to your everyday life. Sometimes someone comes up and says, "I've heard my director or education coordinator talk about some of those things before." But they've never successfully applied them.Hearing it for a year versus doing it for a year are completely different things. Success is about the "doing," not just the "knowing." In fact, I believe that ignorance on fire is better than knowledge on ice! The only thing more powerful is knowledge on fire. There are so many things in life that look simple but, in fact, are not easy. Cooking is one of those for me. It always looks so simple. My wife can go into the kitchen and within 30-40 minutes put together a gourmet meal. Then, I get into the kitchen and burn water. Small repairs around the house look so simple. Then I pick up a hammer and, well, it's just not pretty. I remember when I was 17 my dad brought me into the garage and solemnly said, "Son, you'd better go to college, because you're never going to make a living with your hands!" Good advice, Dad. Thanks.Golf. Looks simple, right? I'm not talking about the professional competition; I mean just going out and smacking the ball around some grass. It looks simple. I've learned, however, that it's not easy. There are so many things in our lives that look simple but are not easy. Networking is one of them. It is a skill. A skill that takes commitment and effort to learn as well as consistently apply. So, I'm giving you an assignment (sorry, my inner professor is coming out): Think of one idea in a book, article, recording, blog—anything—that you've read or heard over the last year that you wanted to apply to your life but never did. Your assignment is to pinpoint that "something" and do it within the next seven days. If it is something you do on an ongoing basis, then find a way to incorporate it into your life and/or your business. All excuses are equal—just do it.Success is the uncommon application of common knowledge. You have the knowledge. Now apply it with uncommon commitment. It won't be easy. But I assure you it is simple.
So now we are fired up for the week, lets be reminded of other action required:

26th June 2008
We had some words of wisdom from our resident legal eagle ( Mr Richard Jones). He passed on some interesting examples from his 30plus years as a practising solicitor. For example, one half smart witness being questioned by a barrister, saying that he ( the barrister) is asking the wrong questions!! Also a tall tale but true in relation to a client using " Insulting Words "
On a more serious note, Nairge has asked that we all complete and leave with her a copy of a prepared 30 sec advertorial for use when we may be away. Perhaps use both sides of the supplied note card, to cover 2 x 30sec addresses that cover our individual businesses. Nairge also re-confirmed that we are allowed 12 absences per 12 mths, any longer and for protracted absences, a sabbatical approval needs to be obtained from the Executive Committee. Otherwise you may lose your spot!
We also were given a short training update on the Lead Cards and confirmation that the dollar amount from a completed lead can be placed on the reverse of a blank.
Total completed leads for F/Y 2008 $ 248000 - well done!!!!
Power Partners ! - Do you have one in the group, would you like one ? Identify a power partner that would assist you in your business and if we don't have one we will actively source a new club member for you.

Our speaker today was Libby.
Libby is our Graphic Artist. Most of her work comes from referrals. She showed us her portfolio put together over 17 years.
Libby sees her job as problem solving. She spent 7 years working in UK where she worked for the BBC, Oxford University Press and Sony. Back in Australia she spent 3 years with Australian Hereford Society (a whole lot of bull!!).
She has started a magazine from scratch something graphic artists dream of but rarely achieve.
All in all a great showcase of her work. Well done Libby.

Speakers 5th June 2008
Edward Singleton - Ray White Samford:
Inspiring talk " Persistence & Perseverance"
As June 30th approaches - good time to formulate & think about goals & thoughts for the year ahead. Having been in the real estate industry for 13yrs, has seen the market go a full cycle from boom to bust. Since 200 when the First Home Owners Grant was introduced there has been unprecedented growth . In this time of "correction" there is more requirement for
a/ Persistence : Character trait exhibited by winners &
b/ Perseverance : Keep on knocking even when the door is shut!
Edward included a quote Luke re a widow with both traits, and reminded us to set goals.
Peter Varcoe : ACOFE
Background on the Sub Prime Crises:
See link to presentation if provided, however;
NINJA loans .....No Income No Job or Assets;
these loans, written at low rates for a "honeymoon" period eventually struck problems when rates increased past what they could afford and they walked out of the property/loan.
Meanwhile these groups of mortgages where on sold to various entities/banks around the globe and they have all suffered huge losses......sorry we stuffed up!!!!

30 second promotional. It is important to use your full time and to pass on information as to what your business offers as sometimes we don't know some things you do and therefore miss the opportunity of a referral.
Speakers- Terry and Audrey.
Audrey warned us against putting a For Sale sign on your vehicle- it attracts a $400 fine.
The hydrogen car is on the way. Maybe just in time in light of rising fuel costs.Expect it within the next 12 months.
Servicing tip - keep an eye out to see that what the invoice says has actually been done. Not a problem at reputable service places.
Terry told us how he does property maintenance at hotels in the city. He does the job properly which can take time. Hotels don't like down time in renting out their rooms and are usually price conscious. In one instance where his price seemed cheap to us and the hotel doesn't want to pay the group thought he should sue.
Well done Terry in not just doing a cheap cover up. Keep your integrity.

New management team now taken over.
Director- Richard Jones
Assistant Director- Ngaire Birch (she says she is acting only but we know better) Thanks Ngaire.
Recorder ??? Need a volunteer.
Speakers today Ngaire and Madeleine.
Ngaire spoke of the use of herbs going back to 5000BC. Aromatic herbs are good for your health.
She recommends you grow your own to use in your cooking. This doesn't take up much space.
Madeleine spoke about her involvement in Bunya Lions and the Walk for Aussie Kids they are sponsouring. The walk is an 8 kilometre one on 14 August 2008. The funds raised provide walkers for people with cerebral palsy. As they deal directly with the people needing the walkers there is not the normal bureaucratic drama and the people in need get the walkers quickly.
They are seeking corporate sponsors for the event as well as donations for raffles and sponsors for walkers.
Members present all expressed interest in getting behind the project.

Only 10 of us today. Agood half apologising.
We had a change of format and had a general discussion instead of the usual member presentations.
Madeleine said the real estate market was such that extreme care is needed.Do not over extend yourself at this time.
Credit card debt and putting your motor vehicle debt onto your home loan is not a good idea.
We discussed that we need a travel agent in the club. Based on past experience this is a position that does well and meets the members needs.
Next posting will be meeting of 8th May as I am away for a week.
Have safe long weekends as we front up to 2 in a row.

Madeleine's Mixer
About half our members and some of their spouses attended Madeleine's mixer at the hotel in Flockton Street on Friday 18 April 2008. We had a very enjoyable night socialising with each other and catching up with people we had not seen for some time. The hotel has been renovated of recent times and was a most suitable venue for an after work drinks night. Thank you Madeleine.

Speakers Jeff Clarkson and Nicola Cox
Jeff discussed Program Cleaning v Speed Cleaning.
He says there is no real difference. Programming a routine makes it faster. In the book Speed Cleaning you do one room at a time. Jeff has a routine for his commercial cleaning where he basically goes round in a circular motion one task at a time. By having a routine you get greater time efficiency.
Nicola told us what she does when she sees a new client. If you are building she can help you save money. You can use her as a sounding board. She will review your plans and advise on design faults.
She recommends a wash basin in the loo. It is important to work on your colours and also to know the latest products available. She recommends using a kitchen designer. Nicola can save you money on product and she always listens to what you want.
Leads today 15.

Small meeting today with a large number of apologies. 2 visitors from Robyn Clark Dental Practice.
Robyn was our guest speaker.
She has her practice at The Grange. After 20 years in the military she set up in private practice. There are a number of dentists in the practice and they are open 7am -6pm most days.
Her biggest challenge is getting staff which she sees as the biggest headache in business.
They offer services which apart from general dental work of drilling and filling extends to bleaching, implants and cosmetic dentistry. On the subject of implants Robyn says they are not cheap but she prefers them to dentures.
Robyn is also a strong advocate for fluoride in our drinking water.
An informative presentation with Robyn happy to answer our many and varied questions.

Welcome to Jo Werthenbach from PBS
Speakers Jo and Richard
Jo was thrown in the deep end on her first visit by Dave Williams who is now Sales Manager at PBS. Jo has joined the team there after a history in Bread. She is enjoying meeting the challenge of a new job. She comes from Stanthorpe and is enjoying living in Brisbane. Welcome Jo. We look forward to hearing more from you as you get your head around the stationery business.
Richard took us back in time to his first visit to Boggo Road Prison and some other jails he has visited over the years (a nice place to visit but wouldn't want to live there. Probably not even nice to visit.)
Leads today 15 in total, 11 internal and 4 external.

15 members and 2 visitors today.
Speakers Mary and Janeece.
Mary talked about the book The EMyth Revisited by Michael Gerbel.
Some statistics re business failures:
1st year 40%
5 years 80%
10 years 80% of those left.
Why so many failures?
Because don't have a system.
There are 3 types of business people- Entreprenuers, Managers and Technicians.
Turnkey revolution- Systems run the business eg MacDonalds.
Question to ask yourself- Are you in business or are you buying yourself a job?
Janeece talked about the changes to superannuation.
Super funds can now borrow but must hold asset in trust.
They can purchase any type of property so long as the transaction is at arms length.
Borrowings must be by way of a non recourse loan. Servicability will come from contributions to the fund going forward and lenders may want guarantees but this will not be from the super fund.
Happy birthday to Julia for 14th March.

A smaller group today with only 13 members present.
Our speaker today was Simon who provided a very informative address in respect to new technologies becoming available. As a result of new housing and industrial estates being too far from telephone exchanges and with high-rises causing so many people to congregate in one area there are problems with communication. The problems are in part are being overcome by the use of wireless broadband utilising either a USB stick or a wireless modem.
There are some problems as this technology is effected by weather. It is quite cost-effective as you can get on a plan for about $49 a month and rent a modem for approximately $5 a month with a 5 GB download.
Simon tries to find out what your needs are and then tailor a solution to meet the needs rather than just sell you what is available.
Simon demonstrated an amazing knowledge within his field of expertise.
Leads today 6 external and 4 internal.
Total value of leads this financial year to date at $201,677.65.

Welcome to Catherine from National Office. Two visitors today 17 people present.
Speakers Libby and Catherine.
Libby told us of her purchase of a new printer to help her business. It will allow small runs to be done that commercial printers avoid. She can now offer small runs of 50 to 200. It is high-quality laser printing at a cheap price. She can also offer small batch printing from 10 upwards. The printer also has the capability to print banners, as well as being able to print on various media. She will be were to offer customers a fast turnaround.
Keep Libby in mind for your next small print run.
Catherine our national director told us of the changes that Leads Club members can expect. We will see her on a more regular basis. The 1800 number is operational. We will be able to contact her by e-mail. A new Australian Leads Club website is being set up. For financial members the website will be free.
Members warmly welcomed her contribution of 50% of the cost of our new business cards. Catherine advises that in taking over the role of national director that she is supported by her partner Richard who is good at paperwork side of the equation. Catherine will be reviewing invoicing and for introducing a new member to any club an existing member will receive one months free fees.
Catherine's vision is to increase membership to 1000. She does not see it as the individual clubs job to grow the club alone. We can expect mixers where all clubs meet in the future.

They test all products before they sell them. They have monthly specials that come from their suppliers. They are competitive with the larger computer outlets.
Lachlan can assist you with building your own desktop computer, wireless networks and security for your network. They have three technicians who can come out on site. David Pratt talked about working smart and suggested business owners consider opening a cash management account for surplus funds. These provide higher interest rates and David has clients who in fact reward themselves with their interest by treating themselves to holidays. Speakers today Madeleine and Tom
Madeleine talked of keeping control of your life. She often sees people become prisoners in their own homes. Some people fear they will lose their memories but really they lose their future. Clinging onto your home may not be the best. Bricks and mortar do not make a home people do.
If you don't plan for your future someone will have to do it for you. We need to overcome the Eventide mentality.
Tom shared with us his round the world trip of last year. They booked some accommodation as they went using a laptop. They travelled eastward to New Zealand then on to Chile. A very interesting place for food and wine. Visited Reno and in Miami hired a Mustang convertible to see the sights. While in New York they attended the Broadway production of Hairspray. From there they travelled to Montréal, Stockholme, took a Europass and went onto Rome before completing the trip returning to Brisbane via Perth.
In summary a very busy trip but Tom recommended anyone having a go.
Leads: 8 internal, 4 external.
Madeleine has recently attended a seminar in Sydney from which she got a promotional concept she is looking to implement. She will speak to members individually about the promotion.

Speakers Julia and Shane.
Julia reports she has been in Nutrametics for 32 years having started in Mt Isa. She told us of a product for people with sensitive skin known as the Platinum Bag. A special skin treatment which comes with a moneyback guarantee. Julia has reached great levels within that the Nutrametics company such that they provide her motor vehicle and in the past many overseas trips.
Shane shared with us common problems he observed in small businesses in running their office. He often comes in after the event and the business of them has more expense to fix the problem that has arisen. He recommends training staff before they get into the problem.
Shane notes that 80 per cent of what he is doing requires his accounting knowledge. There was a smaller reliance on software.
Be aware of your GST status when receiving cash as is often results in a problem.
Inexperienced staff entering data results in going backwards. He recommends getting staff claimed and then having someone such as himself occasionally check the work.

Happy New Year to all.
Today we met for the first time at Mocha Bella Cafe. We received a warm welcome from Sue and were delighted to see that Robyn was also on hand to look after us in the manner we are accustomed.
It was great to see 15 of us back already, some lucky people are still on holidays.
Speakers today Jeff and Richard.
Jeff told us about his new hobby- sports betting. A complicated past time which he is enjoying immensely. It certainly sounds complicated. As it is a hobby winnings are tax free. As a hobby there is only little start up capital and Jeff has found a method that is 97% successful.
Kenny Rogers has good advice on gambling "Know when to hold em, know when to fold em." Good luck Jeff. (We are a diverse group)
Richard told of his visit to Audrey's bush block Kangawalla, situated on the Mann River in NSW and his excitement at the floods in NSW that extended his holiday.
On the legal front he warned about wills and the effect of a change in your circumstances and how things may happen contrary to what you would want if you met an untimely demise.
Leads today 26 - well done.
